Make sure your child’s class sees the annual Nutcracker Ballet performance at the Dallas Theater. Friday, December 3, field trips are $5 per child. We will be contacting your child's school and giving them the opportunity for your child to come and see this Christmas tradition. |

DALLAS DANCE NUTCRACKER 2010 AUDITION The 2010 performances of The Nutcracker will take place December 3, 4. Rehearsals for the cast will be held on Sunday afternoons. Auditions for this year’s performances will be held Saturday, September 18 at the Dallas School of Dance. The auditions are open to the public, and the schedule is as follows:
Age 6 – 8 9:00 – 9:30 Age 9 – 12 9:30 – 10:15 am Age 13 and Up 10:15 – 11:00 am
Please come to the audition dressed in black leotard and pink tights, with hair secured off of the neck in a bun. Boys may wear black shorts or dance pants with a white shirt.
All Dancers Welcome! There is a fee for those who are not a member of Dallas Dance. |

Take advantage on this cultural in-county FIELD TRIP opportunity which will match Georgia Performance Standards in reading, literature, English, writing, spelling, music, drama, and art. You can plan your pre and post activities in the areas above to cover the educational field trip requirements.

Georgia Performance Standards English Language Arts: ELA2R2; ELA2R4; ELA2W1; ELA2W1
Concept: Distinguish between fiction and non-fiction, recall and interpret information presented orally, experience traditional and contemporary literature through a variety of media, identify the main characters.
Topic: Literature study
CLASSROOM ACTIVITIES PRECEDING THE NUTCRACKER PERFORMANCE: Read the Nutcracker Story the Dallas School of Dance will provide you. Identify the main characters. Do a Venn Diagram on the realistic fictional scenes and the fantasy scenes.
Classroom activities following THE NUTCRACKER PERFORMANCE: Write a letter to your favorite main character. Write a critical essay of the performance to include what you liked and what you disliked. Include in your essay any changes you would make to the story if YOU were the original author.
ASSESSMENT OF LEARNING WILL INCLUDE: Information written and oral discussions will determine student comprehension of the subject matter.
